Dr Zijing Hu (PhD, MMed, MB.) is a registered Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture doctor both in South Africa and China. He serves as the chairperson of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Africa. He is also a senior lecturer and researcher in the Department of Complementary Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Johannesburg.

He has extensive knowledge in the field of traditional and complementary medicine, focusing on Traditional Chinese Medicine. His research focus is on quality education provision with a particular interest in teaching and learning to improve learning outcomes.  He is an active researcher in education and has published articles and written book chapters. His research focuses include complementary medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and professional teacher development a within a South African context.

He has been practising Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Fujian Provincial Hospital, P.R.China, from 2009 to 2012. Since then, he has been entering the private practice for 14 years. He is majored in Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture for stroke, stroke rehabilitation, internal medicine, gynecological problems and pediatric diseases. From 2017 to 2018, he was appointed by the Department of Health Republic of South Africa as an evaluator for an expert committee of The Medicines Control Council. From 2018 to 2019, he was again appointed by Department of Health RSA as an evaluator for an advisory committee of complementary medicine committee.
